sip & swirl, an alchobev magazine
this was a university brief done in year 2. the task was to design a full print magazine, not a mockup, not a concept deck but a real, press-ready publication with a defined identity, editorial grid, advertisement placements, and a cover that could hold its own on a newsstand. sip & swirl india was the answer.
sip & swirl india is a magazine exploring global alcohol cultures for a young indian audience. the february issue focuses on south korea's soju culture, anju food pairings, drinking games, and india's own cocktail bar landscape.
the febuary issue
the february issue dives into south korea's drinking scene. from the history of soju and the art of anju pairings, to drinking games and the bars shaping India's own cocktail culture. with bold layouts, curated visuals, and a strong typographic identity, every spread was designed to make print feel exciting & fresh.
the grid
two columns per page. consistent margins, a fixed gutter, and two anchors on every spread section tag top right, page number bottom outside corner.
everything else moves around these rules.
what i learnt
the challenge wasn't just editorial it was learning to think like a print designer. understanding how a grid behaves across a spread. how type reads at magazine scale. how images bleed, how margins breathe, how a cover competes for attention. every spread in this magazine is a design decision made consciously,
not by default.
